The good ol' days

Today, I had the day off. The kids were off too. Unfortunately, The Husband had to go to work. I slept in until 7:30 but stayed in bed till 8am. I finally got up and woke the kids. I taped the end of the football game from last night so The Boy and I watched the ending (which cut off with less than a minute left in regulation time…damned DVR!). I had already looked online to see that our Giants had won, so that was OK. We all showered and got dressed and then dropped The Girl at a friend’s house for a play date. The Boy and I did some shopping and then came home. Even though I was technically off today, I had plenty of work to do from home so I went into my office to work while The Boy played on the PS2. We picked-up The Girl from her play date and as soon as we got home, The Boy’s friend called and came over. The Girl’s friend who lives behind us came over and I baked cupcakes while all the kids played. It was so nice to have all that craziness in my house again! It’s been a long time since I’ve been home and there have been other kids playing at our house. I know it’s crazy but I miss the noise! As rowdy as The Boy and The Girl are, when they have friends over, a calmness envelopes the house. It is loud and there is a WHOLE lot of laughing…but there is almost NO screaming/crying/fighting. It is heavenly!

The Husband came home from work as the kids were eating cupcakes. The Boys ran off to play in one room and The Girls went off in another. Then, The Girl’s friend went home and we took The Boy’s friend with us out to dinner. We dropped The Boy’s friend off, and ended up staying and visiting for an hour or so. It was, again, wonderful. We don’t have social neighbors here…we are not used to that!

Overall, it was a great day. The Kids are off from school again tomorrow so they get to come to work with me! THAT should be fun…

  1. I too love the days when friends are over. Maybe it is having someone else to play with besides their sibling? Who knows and I don't really care at this point as long as I get a little peace in the house. It sounds like you had a wonderful day and that is all that matters. Here's to friends coming over - theirs and ours. :-)
