How to have a relaxing evening

Last night, we had a lovely evening. I had gone and purchased some fresh fish (talapia) for dinner. I planned on making lemon-pepper fish but we were out of Worcestershire sauce so I had to back up and punt! I ended up cooking the fish in some garlic, butter, and lemon. It was very good. I served it with steamed broccoli (with thinly sliced garlic) and couscous. It was really a great dinner. Of course that *might* have had something to do with the fact that I prepared fish sticks for The Boy and The Girl since neither will eat "real fish!"

WAY back when The Boy was just a little guy, I explained to him how much fun it is to run his cars and trucks up and down mommy's back. I made sure The Girl knew how much fun this is as well. At ages 10 and 9 respectively, they both still enjoy 'giving massages' to The Husband and I. They also love to mess with our hair - or "give haircuts" as they call it.

So...after dinner, (with my glass of wine still in my hand), we had a mini-spa night. The Husband and I both got on the floor and the kids got out some trucks, cars, and a foot and body roller I just bought for The Husband. The Girl also grabbed the happy original massager to use. It was the most relaxing evening. The Husband even fell asleep for a moment on the floor!

  1. Hmm, I wonder what kind of a massage a 1 1/2 year old would give - I need to start training him up!

  2. next time you're caught like that (with the fish) Place the fish on a sheet of aluminium foil. Shave carrots on top. Slice celery on top. Maybe a bit of onion. A tiny pat of butter. Fold the foil tight. Place in the oven for about 20 minutes. You'll have steamed fish with vegetables. Serve over rice or noodles. Just be careful that you don't burn yourself from the escaping steam when you open the foil.

    Best part. No cleanup.
