Name that GPS!

So as I was bloghopping today, I read Carrie's post and Burgh Baby's post...and they were both about GPS systems. That is not odd. What struck me was the comment section. It was then I realized that a number of us seem to have named our GPSs.

We have Lucy, a Garmin Nuvi something-or-other. Lucy received her name because she is a bit like Lucy Van Pelt...bossy, smart, and LOVES to tell others what to do. Lucy is amazingly talented. She speaks fluent Arabic and Cantonese. She says she can speak other languages fluently but I've yet to hear them. When she speaks Arabic, I feel as though she is yelling at me, so we don't do that often. It doesn't help that I don't understand a word of Arabic! I just thought it'd be cool. Not so much. Lucy speaks with a British accent a good deal of the time, but I noticed when she speaks British English, it is softer than American English...just an observation! Lucy is passive aggressive, too. I've noticed when I don't do exactly as she says when she first recommends it, she will sometimes wait until the last minute to remind me. Bitch. For the most part, we get along well. She has helped me out of some tight spots and I have treated her well in return.

So...tell me about YOUR little friend and how well you get along!

  1. Yes, our Garmin Nuvi (no fancy name) bosses me around fairly well. Thank heavens because I sure couldn't find where I'm supposed to be on my own.
We even let her speak to us in Spanish sometimes (when I don't actually need to know what she's saying:)

  2. I don't have one... You know how people are about the Kindle (Amazons electronic book thingy) versus real books? That's me and my atlas... I ADORE my atlas... the cover is worn off and it opens automatically now to NC.... there's some smudges here and there, and some bent pages and rips.. but I love that thing... and the adventure of it all.

  5. I think I like the sound of Lucy! I don't have one, I just mapquest everything or check a regular map. It is far cheaper!

  6. I have a Garmin Nuvi and we have named her Alice. :)
The kids thought it a riot when she spoke in spanish. When she gets too bosy, we just give her laryngitis (mute her)!

  7. Our Bitch's name is Glenda. Glenda the Good Witch. I drive about 30000 miles for work each year - she treats me good and I have no complaints. She does have a gender complex since her original name was TOmTom and then I made her a girl.

  8. Quanita - She is British. She loves to take the "motorway". However, I have noticed that if you do not do EXACTLY as she commands she will lead you the longest way possible or through the hood. You also do not speak ill of Quanita in her ear shot or speak while she is speaking. There are many rules where Quanita is concerned. On her behalf, Quanita will get you where you need to go and home again.
