Clutter

What is it about clutter that drives us mad? We are trying to de-clutter; however, there are things with which I am not willing to part. That means that instead of getting rid of the clutter, I’m simply moving it from one place to another. There are places in which I can have clutter and function perfectly well. In others, if there is clutter, I fall to pieces.

How do you handle clutter?

  1. I am a lot like you. i hate clutter. it almost looks like we just don't have a lot of stuff, but it's that i don't like clutter.

just last night i went through the 'clutter' (magazines/mail/coupons) that tends to always end up in a basket in my closet (my 'allowed' space). it felt good!

  2. Since I have very few closets (old house had almost nothing in closets) my things are ALWAYS out in the open. Lately I've been getting those 9 cube (sorta wood) organizers (from the ever popular Target). I've found that although my things are still OUT it looks less cluttered/messy.

Probably wouldn't work for everyone - but its working for me (at least for now).

  3. How I handle clutter: Pack boxes of things I don't use but still think I might want, and MOVE them to my mother's house. I suppose this only works if your mom has a basement... and lives a few minutes away... and isn't home during the day while you sneak all your clutter in.

  4. I'm gyuilty of dealing with clutter by moving it from place to place.

Other times a box or a big plastic bag comes in handy..

Right now, I'm trying to deal with some of the clutter, by 'If I haven't used it for ages' then out it goes..

  6. I put the clutter in bins or laundry baskets and pretend that somehow that will help the problem.

  7. Sometimes I handle it just fine & step over the millions of pieces of barbie accessories and shuffle through piles of mail but when I'm looking for something in particuliar - it drives me nuts.
(Sorry about the run-on sentence, I type as I think - correct if you must.)

  9. Ahhh, clutter. Drives me mad. Makes me irrational (hmmm, wait. maybe it's not clutter that does that). It just makes me feel so out of place, right along with all of it. I give away a lot of stuff. I go online to places like freecycle.org and offer it up, I take boxes of clothes and toys to womens shelters, I just get rid of it. But then, sometimes I'm like.... what ever happened to? And then I realize that it's gone! I gave it away! LOL.

BTW, thanks so much for the comment about my post. I REALLY appreciate it.
