Negative Nellie strikes again

Only this time, she was more like Toxic Tessie!!

We had a board meeting at the gym the other night. Our meetings are just after the higher level gymnasts have their practice. Toxic Tessie has a daughter in a higher level (in addition to the one she has on The Girl's team).

I arrived at the gym early for the meeting and saw the end of practice. Toxic Tessie arrived and went straight to the other moms. Someone asked her how the meet went last weekend. She launched right into her toxicity. She proceeded to inform ALL the other moms how it was a total joke - that the judges were EXTREMELY generous in their scores and, had it be anyplace else, the girls would have had their butts handed to them. She said the girls were all in for a rude awakening at the next meet.

Oh. My. God. I swear, I wanted to tell her to shut the fuck up! Seriously!

To be honest, I don't care how hard or easy the judges were on the girls. What I'm happy about is that it was the girls' FIRST competition and, if the judges were generous, that's awesome because it helped boost the girls' confidence. Maybe they won't be quite as nervous next time. Maybe, they'll score better next time because they won't be so nervous.

The funny thing is, you'd think she'd say the opposite - that the judges scored hard. The best her daughter did was tie for third on one apparatus. She seems to discount her daughter completely. After the meet, when all the girls were excited about winning first place, we put them on the podium to take some photos. Toxic Tessie allowed her daughter to stand for one photo and immediately pulled her down and told her to grab her things - it was time to go.

I sure hope she is not so toxic in front of her daughter...but I'm pretty sure she is!

  1. That's just awful. Why do people/parents act that way? What does she have to prove? Geez!

  2. I feel so sorry for her daughter. There is no way to grow up with a toxic mom and not suffer as a result.

  4. There will definitely be meets where the scoring is either hard/generous. As long as it is consistent, no one gets injured, and everyone had fun, it is a good meet. Aren't you glad that your daughters don't compete the same level! Hang in there!

  6. That is so awful. I can't understand what drives parents to treat their children like dogs. The kids do this stuff (or should) because it's fun for them and they enjoy it. It's not a job.

  7. Misery loves company, she just needed some friends to join in her negativity. I never realized until I came to America just how whiney and negative English people can be and when I came here, someone told me to be more positive and it hit me like a ton of bricks how I sounded. Now when I go back home, all the negative English people drive me crazy!!!
