The Waiting Game

Remember my post all about me? Well, today, I saw the doctor again. I went in for a biopsy but when I got there, the ultrasound tech could not find the cyst in question. I guess that's a good thing. The doctor came in and, when told of this, said that happens because they go away on their own sometimes. Again - a good thing. Regardless, there were 3 cysts in plain view where the ultrasound tech was so the doctor aspirated all three.

First, came the lidocaine. OMG! The doctor said it'd feel like a bee sting and I didn't mean to, but as soon as the needle went in and I felt the burn, I yelled "OH SHIT!" Then I felt badly for swearing but he said he understood. The rest of the procedure went well and wasn't overly painful. Uncomfortable - yes, but painful - no. Of course, I'm bruised and sore now, but that will pass. The doctor said it was just like being at the dentist, but I assured him the dentist NEVER numbs my breast during a cleaning!

The good news is that he was able to completely aspirate 2 of the cysts. He got about 95% of the third one, so that is where the wait comes in. We are going to monitor that one and check it again in 4-6 months. According to the doctor, the fluid looked like 'typical simple cyst' stuff and he did not send it to the lab.

So that's all...and aside from being sore, my boob is fine. Thanks for the positive thoughts.

  1. that's great - and remember, the "condition" runs in the family.
