First Day of School!

Today was the first day of school. The Boy, because he is in middle school, had a full day of school. Being in elementary school, The Girl had only a half-day. I'm not really sure why they do that, but they do.

Normally, the kids will ride the bus to school, but, again, since it was the first day, I drove them. We woke bright and early at 6am! Both kids decided they want to start showering in the morning. (They both still shower at night, but the quick morning shower is a wake-up and, for The Girl, a way to wet her hair.) I woke The Girl at 6 and The Boy at 6:15. Even though they were not riding the bus, I wanted to make sure they were ready in time for when the bus *should* be here. They were both ready in time! Part of that is due to the fact that I've put a white board in their bathroom reminding them of all that must be done before they come downstairs, and another white board by the door reminding them of all they need to take with them.

We took a bunch of pictures and then drove to school, where I took another bunch of pictures! After depositing the kids in their classrooms, I headed for the library. I am part of the parents' association, and we had some stuff to take care of. After that, a dear friend and I headed out to conduct some serious business...coffee drinking! After coffee, we ran a few quick errands before we headed back to school for our elementary school kiddos.

The Girl said she had a great day. We left school and headed out to lunch for some 'girl time.' It was very pleasant. Then, we came home and did some laundry, chatted, and played with the dog till The Boy came home (on the bus).

All in all, it was a really good day. Both kids are happy with school and are excited about the upcoming year. Funny thing...The Boy is most excited because he is taking Latin this year! Who knew?!

  1. Glad they had a great first day. We've been thinking about doing Latin as well - let me know how you like it.
    Enjoy your Friday.
